Jyooty Omsvaha Singing Bowl
At Jyooty Omsvaha, our Singing Bowl collection honors an ancient Himalayan tradition of sound healing. These handcrafted metal bowls – often called Tibetan singing bowls – have been part of Tibetan Buddhist practice for centuries, used in meditation and spiritual teachings. Buddhist monks and shamans would ring these bowls to focus the mind and deepen awareness, creating rich, resonant tones that invite inner stillness. Today, Jyooty Omsvaha bowls are made by skilled artisans following this heritage, infusing each piece with intention and care.
Over a thousand years, Nepalese metalworkers have hammered these bowls by hand from a unique alloy of precious metals. Traditionally five to seven “sacred metals” (such as gold, silver, copper, tin, iron, mercury, and more) are fused together to form each bowl. In Himalayan lore, each metal corresponds to a celestial body – for example, gold (Sun), silver (Moon), and copper (Venus). The bowl’s circular form itself is deeply symbolic: it “represents infinity — a reminder of the cycles of life, death, and rebirth,” and its sustained tone is said to mirror the cosmic vibration “Om,” the primordial sound of creation. In practice, the rich resonance of a Jyooty Omsvaha bowl helps clear the mind, balance energy, and draw awareness into the present moment.
